Kavalan named Whisky of the Year for Second Consecutive Year

Kavalan Awarded Whisky of the Year at International Whisky Competition (IWC)

Kavalan has once again achieved a significant recognition in the whisky industry, with its Peatist Oloroso Sherry Cask single malt whisky being named Whisky of the Year at the International Whisky Competition (IWC). This marks the second consecutive year the Taiwanese distillery has received this prestigious award.

The Kavalan Peatist Oloroso Sherry Cask single malt whisky scored 96.97 points in the competition. The distillery also saw success in other categories, with eight of its products ranking within the IWC's Top 15 whiskies for 2026. Furthermore, Zerose Yang, Kavalan's Head of Research and Development, was honored as Master Distiller of the Year.

Last year, the Kavalan Solist Fino Sherry secured the same top award. The company states that these accolades highlight their consistent dedication to quality and continuous development. Kavalan's whiskies are notably characterized by their maturation process in subtropical climatic conditions.

Kavalan reports that it has accumulated a total of 11 World's Best Whisky titles over the past eleven years, in addition to eight Distillery of the Year awards and over 1,000 international gold medals. The Peatist Oloroso Sherry Cask is currently available in Taiwan and select international markets.
