KAYAK Launches Campaign to Rescue Group Trip Plans from Chat Limbo
Travel company KAYAK has introduced a campaign to address the common issue of group trip plans getting stuck in digital conversations, with 84% of travelers reporting such delays.

Travel search engine KAYAK is launching a new initiative to solve the persistent problem of group trip planning getting stalled. The company's research indicates that 84% of travelers have experienced group trip plans lingering in chat applications, with these plans averaging one to three months in "chat limbo." A significant majority, 90%, attribute this delay to a single individual's indecision.
As part of this effort, KAYAK has deployed large digital billboards in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. These "BookBoards" are designed to serve as prominent reminders for hesitant travelers, encouraging them to commit to travel arrangements. The public can nominate friends they deem indecisive to be featured on these billboards via KAYAK's website. The campaign aims to lower the barrier to organizing group trips and expedite the decision-making process.
The relevance of group travel is amplified by increasing cost consciousness. Domestic airfare has reportedly risen 23% year-over-year, with hotel rates up 3%. Traveling as a group presents a more affordable option by allowing for the division of accommodation and activity expenses. KAYAK offers tools to help groups compare various lodging solutions and find budget-friendly arrangements.
KAYAK has also developed a new AI feature named "Ask AI," which assists groups in planning trips using natural language interaction. Users can discuss their preferences and travel options in real-time, streamlining comparisons and decision-making. The company also provided a list of top destinations for groups, highlighting affordability with average flight and hotel costs under $500 per person.
