Kazia Therapeutics Expands Breast Cancer Trial
Kazia Therapeutics is expanding its clinical trial for the drug paxalisib to include HR+/HER2- breast cancer. This follows preclinical data showing good tolerability and anti-tumor activity in HR+ breast cancer.
Kazia Therapeutics has expanded its clinical trial for the drug paxalisib to include patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) and HER2-negative (HER2-) breast cancer. This expansion is supported by preclinical data that indicated paxalisib, when combined with standard-of-care therapy, is well-tolerated and demonstrates statistically significant anti-tumor activity in HR+ breast cancer.
The ongoing trial for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) will now include a three-arm expansion. This new phase will evaluate paxalisib in combination with fulvestrant, and also with fulvestrant and palbociclib, against standard-of-care treatments.
The expansion aims to gather more data on the efficacy and safety of paxalisib across different subtypes of breast cancer. This information is crucial for determining the drug's potential role in broader treatment strategies.
