Kazia Therapeutics Reports Preclinical Data on Paxalisib in Colorectal Cancer

Kazia Therapeutics has released preclinical findings indicating that its drug candidate, paxalisib, demonstrates potential in treating a specific type of colorectal cancer that is resistant to current immunotherapies. The study focused on MSS/pMMR colorectal cancer, a subtype known for its poor response to checkpoint inhibitor treatments.
In the preclinical model, paxalisib administered as a monotherapy led to a significant reduction in tumor burden. When combined with pembrolizumab, a checkpoint inhibitor, the therapeutic effect was further amplified, suggesting a synergistic benefit. The drug candidate was reportedly well-tolerated in both monotherapy and combination settings during these studies.
