KBR and Mura Secure Contract for Plastics Recycling Technology from LG Chem
KBR and Mura have been awarded a contract by LG Chem Korea for plastics recycling technology. KBR will provide technology licensing and engineering for Mura Development's Hydro-PRT technology at LG Chem's plant.

KBR, Inc. and its partner Mura have secured a contract with LG Chem Korea for a plastics recycling technology. Under the agreement, KBR will provide technology licensing and engineering services for the implementation of Mura Development's Hydro-PRT technology.
The project will see the Hydro-PRT technology deployed at LG Chem's facility in Dangjin, South Korea. This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing the recycling of plastic waste and promoting a circular economy for plastics.
The Hydro-PRT technology utilizes superheated steam to convert a wide range of plastics, including single-use items, into commercial raw materials. These recovered materials can then be used to produce new plastics, creating a closed-loop system.
This technology's capability to process various plastic types that are challenging for traditional recycling methods offers a new avenue for reducing plastic waste and conserving resources.
Doug Kelly, President of KBR Technology, highlighted the company's commitment to sustainability. The contract with LG Chem reflects the chemical industry's growing focus on improving environmental performance and meeting sustainability and ESG objectives.
