KBR Awarded Design Contract for Methanex Geismar Methanol Project
KBR, Inc. has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract by Methanex Corporation for a potential new methanol plant in Geismar, Louisiana. A final investment decision is expected in mid-2019.
HOUSTON – KBR, Inc. announced it has secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract, with an option for engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services, from Methanex Corporation for a potential third methanol plant at its Geismar, Louisiana site. The project is set to expand Methanex's existing operational facilities.
Under the agreement, KBR will execute the FEED work from its Houston Operations Center. The design phase is anticipated to conclude within the next 12 months. Methanex is expected to make a final investment decision regarding the construction of the new facility by mid-2019.
Should Methanex proceed with the potential third plant, KBR holds the option to provide the full EPCM services for the construction phase. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
