HOUSTON – KBR, Inc. announced it has secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract, with an option for engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services, from Methanex Corporation for a potential third methanol plant at its Geismar, Louisiana site. The project is set to expand Methanex's existing operational facilities.

Under the agreement, KBR will execute the FEED work from its Houston Operations Center. The design phase is anticipated to conclude within the next 12 months. Methanex is expected to make a final investment decision regarding the construction of the new facility by mid-2019.

Should Methanex proceed with the potential third plant, KBR holds the option to provide the full EPCM services for the construction phase. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

This award represents a key project for KBR, which offers services to the energy and chemicals sectors. The project aligns with the growing global demand for methanol, a key component in various industrial applications.
