KBR awarded FEED contract for KEPPT's fertilizer facility in Iraq
KBR has been awarded a front-end engineering design contract for KAR Electrical Power Production Trading FZE's fertilizer facility in Basra, Iraq. The project aims to utilize gas feedstock to support Iraq's agricultural industry.
KBR, Inc. has secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for KAR Electrical Power Production Trading FZE's (KEPPT) planned ammonia and urea production plant in Basra, Iraq.
The contract entails KBR providing FEED for a 2,300 metric tons per day (MTPD) ammonia production facility and a 3,850 MTPD urea production unit. The design will utilize KBR's proprietary ammonia technology, intended for high efficiency, low emissions, and operational reliability. The objective is to achieve optimal capital expenditure and project schedule.
Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, stated that KBR is honored to support a project that monetizes gas feedstock and boosts Iraq's agricultural sector. He highlighted KBR's expertise in ammonia solutions and FEED capabilities.
The initiative is expected to generate employment and reduce Iraq's reliance on fertilizer imports, while aiming to reposition the country as a global ammonia producer. KBR is playing a role in Iraq's industrial development.
