HOUSTON – KBR, Inc. announced on May 24, 2016, that it has secured a five-year contract with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) to provide training services for the Canberra Class Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) ships in Sydney, Australia.

In collaboration with the RAN, KBR's Training Solutions Team will develop the current LHD transition-into-service training system into a sustainment training system. The objective is to produce qualified ship crews ready to perform their roles immediately upon joining the vessels.

The new RAN training facility, located in Sydney, will integrate enhanced simulation and emulation technologies within a modern training framework, utilizing a blended learning approach.

The LHD ships represent the largest vessels ever constructed for the Australian Defence Force. HMA Ships Canberra and Adelaide are capable of transporting over 1,000 troops, 100 armored vehicles, and 12 rotary wing aircraft each.
