KBR, Inc. announced on July 3, 2023, that it has settled a legacy lawsuit, USA ex rel Howard v. KBR, Inc. et al., pending in federal court.

The settlement requires KBR to pay $108.75 million. The company continues to deny any violation of laws or contractual terms. The case originated from allegations related to material procurement and inventory management under the LOGCAP III contract in Iraq between 2007 and 2011.

Stuart Bradie, KBR President and CEO, stated the company is pleased to resolve this decade-old lawsuit, calling it a milestone in their commitment to address legacy legal matters and reduce uncertainty and liquidity risk.

The lawsuit, initially filed in 2011 and unsealed in 2014, focused on the cross-leveling of materials and equipment procurement and inventory management. KBR stated they resolved the case to avoid the expense, risk, and distraction of a trial, while maintaining that they fulfilled their contractual obligations in a wartime environment and are proud of their support for the military.

Under the terms of the settlement, KBR denies any liability or wrongdoing and refutes all allegations.
