KBR, Inc. has announced its strategic intent to become the exclusive global licensor for Hazer Group's methane pyrolysis technology. The agreement aims to meet the increasing worldwide demand for clean hydrogen as a critical feedstock for various industries.

The methane pyrolysis technology converts natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon, with negligible carbon dioxide emissions. This process presents a cost-effective and low-carbon pathway for hydrogen production, essential for sectors such as ammonia and methanol manufacturing.

KBR stated that this technology complements its existing portfolio of sustainable energy solutions and opens avenues in markets anticipating substantial hydrogen demand in the coming decades. The co-produced graphitic carbon also offers significant economic potential as a sustainable alternative for high-value carbon markets.

Separately, KBR confirmed its strategic intention to spin off its Mission Technology Solutions business segment into a standalone company. This separation is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
