KBR to Supply Nitric Acid Technology to Kemerovo Azot Plant
KBR, Inc. has been awarded a contract to supply its nitric acid technology to Kemerovo Azot's plant in Russia. The facility is expected to be operational by 2021.

KBR, Inc. announced it has secured a contract to provide technology licensing, basic engineering design, and proprietary equipment for Kemerovo Azot JSC's nitric acid plant in Kemerovo, Russia. The new facility will have a capacity of 500 tons per day and is slated for operation by 2021.
The nitric acid produced will be used for the manufacturing of ammonium nitrate, a key nitrogen fertilizer. This project marks the first in Russia to utilize KBR's Weatherly technology license for nitric acid production.
Weatherly, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KBR, brings over six decades of global experience in this technology, with more than 250 installations worldwide, including over 75 nitric acid plants. The technologies are described as proven, modern, cost-effective, and energy-efficient.
