KBR Uses Cloud to Support Iowa Fertilizer Company's Digital Transformation

KBR, Inc. has announced it will support Iowa Fertilizer Company (IFCo) on its digital transformation journey by leveraging cloud technology. IFCo, one of the largest nitrogen fertilizer plants in the U.S., utilizes KBR's proprietary ammonia production process technology.
The agreement involves KBR cloud-hosting IFCo's INSITE® remote monitoring system. This system is designed to continuously monitor and analyze the performance of critical equipment within the plant, such as furnaces, reactors, compressors, and turbines. The primary goal is to optimize production and avoid unplanned downtime.
By transitioning the INSITE® system to a cloud-based platform, KBR aims to provide IFCo with enhanced operational insights. The system's analytics will help identify potential equipment failures stemming from normal wear and tear or suboptimal operational practices, enabling proactive maintenance.
This collaboration underscores the increasing adoption of digital solutions in the manufacturing sector. By utilizing KBR's expertise in process technology and cloud services, IFCo seeks to improve efficiency and ensure the reliable production of its diversified product portfolio, which includes ammonia, urea, and DEF (diesel exhaust fluid).
