KBR's Phenol Technology Selected by SABIC Fujian Petrochemicals
KBR has been awarded a contract by SABIC Fujian Petrochemicals to license its phenol technology in China. The project includes proprietary engineering design for a 250 KTA phenol plant.
KBR, Inc. has secured a contract with SABIC Fujian Petrochemicals to license its phenol technology in China. Under the agreement, KBR will provide technology licensing and proprietary engineering design for a 250 kiloton per annum (KTA) phenol plant at SABIC's Fujian Petrochemical Complex.
The final investment decision for the project was announced in January 2024, with completion expected in FY 2026. KBR's phenol technology is presented as a sustainable solution aimed at reducing energy consumption and improving yields.
According to KBR, its phenol technology enhances customer competitive advantage and advances sustainability objectives through superior efficiency, reliability, wastewater recovery, and performance. The company has been a phenol technology licensor for over six decades, completing more than 50 phenol projects worldwide.
