Keeper Security integrates privileged access management into Google Chat

Keeper Security has introduced a new integration that brings privileged access management and credential retrieval directly into Google Chat. This allows teams to request and approve access to sensitive systems and data without leaving their existing collaboration platform.

The new Google Chat app is designed for organizations using Google Workspace, aiming to simplify security processes by reducing the need to switch between separate tools. Users can now submit requests for access to Keeper's password vault, including justifications and custom permission levels. Approval workflows and access granting are managed within the chat application, complete with audit trails.

Craig Lurey, CTO and Co-founder of Keeper Security, highlighted the integration's role in embedding security into familiar tools. "Organizations need access controls embedded in the tools their teams already use," Lurey stated. "This integration keeps the infrastructure isolated, as the chat app is merely the interface. Encryption and verification happen entirely within your environment, so credentials never exist in transit, whether to Google's or our infrastructure."

The integration operates using Keeper's Commander Service Mode and employs end-to-end, zero-trust, zero-knowledge encryption. Credentials remain encrypted and do not pass through external services. The solution supports features such as requests for privileged access, just-in-time privilege elevation approvals, and device onboarding approvals in federated workflows. It is available immediately for Keeper customers with active Keeper Secrets Manager or KeeperPAM licenses.
