Keeway Motorcycle Denies Rumors of Dealer Exodus and Financial Woes

Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Keeway (凯越机车) has strongly denied circulating online rumors alleging severe financial distress and a collective exodus of its dealers. In a statement, the company asserted that these claims are "not facts."

The rumors, which gained traction online, suggested Keeway was facing a liquidity crisis, that dealers had abandoned the company, and that a former key employee, Zhang Xue, had been forced out. Allegations also pointed to a significant staff reduction and capital investors solely seeking dividends. Keeway revealed that it began pursuing legal channels against rumor mongers as early as June, and that public security organs have investigated the claims.

In its statement, Keeway acknowledged that it is not a flawless brand and has made mistakes and faced setbacks. However, the company emphasized that its relationship with Zhang Xue, and indeed with other domestic motorcycle brands, is not an "either/or" situation. Keeway recognized Zhang Xue's significant contributions to the company's progress and stated it respects his choices.

To protect its legitimate rights and counter the spread of false information, the company confirmed the initiation of legal proceedings in June. Local authorities have verified that deliberately fabricating and maliciously defaming Keeway constitutes illegal activity, leading to the detention of several individuals involved in spreading the rumors.

Keeway continues its operations, aiming to rectify past errors while legally defending its reputation. The company stressed its respect for both its history and its industry peers.
