Kellner & Kunz Enhances Logistics Automation with Infios Software Integration
Tools and C-parts specialist Kellner & Kunz AG is integrating robotics into its inbound logistics operations, building on a long-standing partnership with Infios.

Infios, a provider of Intelligent Supply Chain Execution solutions, is supporting Kellner & Kunz AG, a specialist in tools and C-parts, in advancing its automation strategy through the integration of robotics into inbound logistics.
The initiative expands on an existing partnership dating back to 2019, when Infios implemented its Warehouse Management (WM) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) at Kellner & Kunz's logistics center in Wels, Austria. This digital foundation enables a phased expansion of automation within the facility.
Kellner & Kunz manages approximately 120,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) and processes up to 5,000 deliveries daily. The company has invested €45 million in its Wels facility, utilizing Infios software to orchestrate automated operations, including a high-bay warehouse with 15,400 pallet locations and 200,000 tote locations, alongside automated guided vehicles and conveyor systems.
In the latest phase, Infios integrated an articulated-arm robot with a vacuum gripper to depalletize inbound goods. This solution significantly improves efficiency and ergonomics compared to manual handling, capable of processing up to six units, each weighing up to 25 kilograms, simultaneously. Further automation is planned, including a second depalletizing robot station and robotics for replenishment processes.
"The flexible and modular architecture of the Infios platform enables us to introduce new automation technologies as needed and seamlessly integrate them into our existing logistics processes," said Dirk Teschner, Senior Vice President at Infios. The ongoing collaboration focuses on continuous process optimization for increased efficiency and scalability.
