Kelvion supplies heat exchanger technology for Fenagy industrial heat pumps
Kelvion is providing high-pressure plate heat exchangers to Fenagy for use in large-scale CO2-based industrial and district heating heat pump systems.
Kelvion has established a partnership with Danish manufacturer Fenagy to supply specialized plate heat exchangers for industrial-grade heat pump systems. These systems leverage CO2 as a natural refrigerant, designed specifically for district heating infrastructure and industrial cooling applications.
The plate heat exchangers provided by Kelvion are engineered to withstand operating pressures of up to 130 bar. Operating as gas coolers and CO2 evaporators, these units offer a capacity exceeding 1,300 kW each, which allows for simplified piping and reduced installation complexity within the heat pump cycles.
According to Klaus Hoberg Jensen, Sales Manager for Fenagy, Kelvion’s involvement in the design process—including consultation with thermodynamics experts—has been critical to the performance of their installations. Since the initial order in 2022, the collaboration has expanded to include dozens of units deployed across various district heating projects.
