Kelvion supplies heat exchangers for Fenagy's industrial heat pumps

Kelvion, a manufacturer of thermal management solutions, is supplying specially designed brazed plate heat exchangers to Fenagy, a specialist in heating and cooling systems using natural refrigerants. Fenagy is integrating these components into a 2 MW industrial heat pump system for district heating in Denmark.

The heat exchangers are engineered to withstand pressures up to 130 bar and function as gas coolers, reducing the temperature of CO2 from the compressor. They can also serve as CO2 evaporators within the heat pump cycle. With capacities exceeding 1,300 kW per unit, Kelvion's highly efficient design reduces the number of required units, simplifying installation and piping complexity.

Fenagy has been a Kelvion customer since 2022 and has since acquired dozens of these heat exchangers for its heat pump systems. The partnership aims to provide an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional heating methods by utilizing CO2 as a natural refrigerant.

Kelvion's R&D team collaborated with thermodynamics experts to ensure precise design. Klaus Hoberg Jensen, Sales Manager for Industrial Cooling and Heating at Fenagy, stated that Kelvion's technical expertise and reliable performance have been instrumental. This collaboration contributes to the development of sustainable district heating solutions.
