Kemira Launches Iron Phosphate Pilot Plant in Helsingborg

Kemira Oyj began pilot operations for iron phosphate production at its facility in Helsingborg, Sweden, in September 2026. This initiative marks a significant step in the company's development of battery materials, aiming to bolster the resilience and sustainability of the battery value chain.

Iron phosphate is a key precursor chemical utilized in the manufacturing of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. These batteries are widely employed in electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and various industrial applications, driven by the growing demand for electrification.

The Helsingborg pilot plant will enable Kemira to refine and optimize its iron phosphate production processes. The objective is to ensure the material meets the stringent quality and performance standards required by the battery industry.
