Kering and Cannes Film Festival Award Young Talent to Ninja Thyberg

Luxury group Kering and the Festival de Cannes will present the Young Talent Award to Swedish director Ninja Thyberg. The award recognizes Thyberg's debut feature film and comes with €50,000 to support her upcoming project.

The ceremony will take place as part of the eighth edition of "Women In Motion" in Cannes on May 22, 2022. Following tradition, the previous recipient, Australian director Shannon Murphy, selected this year's winner. The "Women In Motion" program, a joint initiative by Kering and the Festival de Cannes, aims to highlight women's contribution to cinema.

Actress and producer Viola Davis will receive the "Women In Motion" Award for her career achievements during the same event. The program annually recognizes emerging female filmmakers and influential women in the industry.

Thyberg is known for her short films exploring themes of sexuality and power. Her first feature film, "Pleasure," was selected for the Official Selection at the 2020 Festival de Cannes and the 2021 Sundance Festival, also winning the Jury Prize at the 2021 Deauville American Film Festival.
