Kering and Conservation International Establish Fund for Regenerative Agriculture

Luxury group Kering and Conservation International (CI) have jointly established the Natural Regenerative Fund. The fund aims to convert one million hectares of farmland and landscapes to regenerative agricultural practices within the next five years. This initiative is a significant step towards Kering's commitment to achieve a net positive impact on biodiversity by 2025.

The fund will provide financing to farmers, NGOs, and other stakeholders at the forefront of agricultural transformation. Selected projects will focus on key raw materials for the luxury industry, including leather, cotton, wool, and cashmere, and will be implemented in 17 countries. Applications for funding are open until April 30, 2021.

"Biodiversity underpins the ecosystems we rely on for our daily food and clothing," said Dr. M. Sanjayan, CEO of Conservation International. "Kering's commitment to fulfilling its promise to protect the nature we depend on represents a huge step forward for the fashion industry and a substantial opportunity to impact billions of lives."

Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of International Institutional Affairs at Kering, added that the fund's primary goal is to increase the quantity and quality of regenerative, natural-content raw materials in the luxury and fashion sectors by directly supporting organizations that can trigger agricultural change.
