Kering Eyewear Completes Acquisition of Maui Jim Majority Stake

Kering Eyewear, a subsidiary of the luxury group Kering, has finalized the acquisition of a majority stake in the sunglasses brand Maui Jim. The transaction, initially announced in March, received necessary antitrust approvals.

According to the statement, Kering Eyewear now holds more than 90% of Maui Jim, with plans to acquire the remaining share by the end of the year. The brand will be consolidated into Kering's financial statements starting October 1, 2022. Maui Jim, known for its PolarizedPlus2 lens technology and "Aloha Spirit," is recognized as one of the world's fastest-growing eyewear companies, with products sold in over 100 countries.

The acquisition solidifies Kering Eyewear's position in the luxury eyewear sector. The company currently designs, develops, and distributes eyewear for a portfolio of 17 brands, including Kering's own labels like Gucci and Saint Laurent, as well as licensed brands such as Cartier.
