Kering mandates 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave globally

Luxury goods group Kering has announced a new global parental leave policy effective January 1, 2020. The mandate guarantees 14 weeks of fully paid leave for all employees, regardless of their location, gender, or family situation, covering both birth and adoption.

The policy applies to all staff members, allowing the leave to be taken within six months of the child joining the family. This move follows the company's previous initiative, which offered 14 weeks for birth mothers but only five days for secondary caregivers. By standardizing the benefit, the company aims to support work-life balance and address gender-based career disparities.

Chief Human Resources Officer Béatrice Lazat stated that the initiative is intended to build a more inclusive workplace environment. Kering aims to achieve gender parity across all corporate levels by 2025. The company remains a signatory to several international charters, including the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, as part of its ongoing internal equality strategy.
