Kering to Host Women In Motion Talk on Japanese Cinema in Tokyo

Kering, the global luxury group, announced it will host a "Women In Motion" talk in Tokyo on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The event, held as an allied program of the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, will focus on the growing international impact of Japanese cinema.

The discussion will feature remarks by filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, followed by a panel including Amy Homma, Director and President of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures; singer and actor Kazunari Ninomiya; and producer Chieko Murata. Murata's 2025 film "Kokuho" became the highest-grossing live-action Japanese film in history. The panelists will discuss the evolving landscape of Japanese film and the role of cultural institutions and creators.

Amy Homma, appointed in 2024 to lead the Academy Museum, focuses on promoting film culture globally. Kazunari Ninomiya has experience in international productions, including Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima" (2006) and the Cannes-premiered "Exit 8" (2025). The conversation will also touch upon gender, diversity, and allyship, core themes of Kering's "Women In Motion" initiative, aiming to foster more inclusive creative environments.

Following the panel, a screening of Lulu Wang's "The Farewell" (2019) will be presented, selected by Homma for its impact on her. Kering's "Women In Motion" program, established in 2015, aims to highlight women's contributions to film and promote inclusivity within the cultural sector.
