Kering to Host Women In Motion Talk with Hirokazu Kore-eda and Mayu Matsuoka at Tokyo Film Festival

Luxury group Kering announced it will host a "Women In Motion" talk at the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) on October 31, 2022. The discussion will feature Palme d'Or-winning filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda and Japanese actress Mayu Matsuoka.

The talk aims to address the role of women in the Japanese film industry, its challenges, and its future, from the perspectives of a director and an actress. Matsuoka previously appeared in Kore-eda's "Shoplifters," which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2018.

Kering's "Women In Motion" initiative, launched in 2015 at the Festival de Cannes, seeks to highlight women's contributions to cinema and the arts. The program has since expanded to include photography, art, design, choreography, and music.

This marks the second time Kering is holding a "Women In Motion" talk at TIFF, following a previous event in 2019. The discussion will be facilitated by film journalist Atsuko Tatsuta.
