Kering Updates Sustainability Guidelines

Luxury group Kering has released the fifth version of its guidelines for raw materials and manufacturing processes, first introduced in 2018. The guidelines are updated annually to reflect evolving sustainability strategies and emerging issues within the industry.

The 2022 update introduces two new chapters: one focuses on tailoring, manufacturing, and finishing, while the other addresses sustainability claims. These additions build upon previous annual updates that incorporated topics such as synthetic materials, packaging, visual marketing, and circularity.

Kering stated that these updates address a growing interest in subjects like regenerative agriculture and innovations concerning product end-of-life. The company emphasized its commitment to transparency, noting that the guidelines are developed in collaboration with experts and NGOs and are reviewed annually.

In addition to the material and manufacturing guidelines, Kering has also published separate guidelines for animal welfare and retail operations. The company indicated that these documents collectively support its 2025 targets for traceability, human rights, and reducing its environmental footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.
