Kesko expands own brand selection with sustainability labels

Retail company Kesko Oyj is significantly expanding its selection of own-brand products, including its Pirkka, Pirkka Parhaat, and K-Menu ranges. The company is continuously adding products with sustainability-related labels, reflecting its commitment to fostering more sustainable consumption patterns.

The company actively works to ensure responsibility within its supply chains through measures such as factory audits of suppliers and by offering training on sustainability matters. Particular attention is given to guiding the sourcing of raw materials identified as critical, such as palm oil and soy, in accordance with Kesko's specific sustainability policies.

These initiatives align with Kesko's broader strategy to provide consumers with more environmentally friendly and ethically produced options. Recent company announcements also highlight an increase in sales of plant-based protein products and a reduction in sugar content for various items.

Additionally, Kesko has tightened its requirements for chemical safety in its own-brand clothing and textiles. The company's chemical guidelines set standards that are, in some cases, stricter than current EU legislation. K-Citymarket stores are also implementing measures to reduce waste, aiming for zero textile waste within their operations.
