Kesko Expands Technical Trade Operations in Nordic Countries

Kesko Oyj is significantly expanding its technical trade operations across the Nordic countries with a key acquisition.

The company announced an agreement to acquire the operations of Dahl companies in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. This transaction is set to solidify Kesko's position in the technical trade market, a sector experiencing growth driven by renovation needs and infrastructure renewal in the region. Technical trade encompasses B2B wholesale of products and services for building services engineering, industry, and energy solutions.

Building and technical trade represents Kesko's second-largest business division. The company first entered the technical trade sector in 2016 with the acquisition of Onninen. Currently, Kesko operates in technical trade in seven countries, including Finland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, and the Baltic states.

Significant growth potential is identified within the Nordic technical trade markets. Key growth drivers include the increasing demand for building stock renovation and infrastructure renewal, the green transition, and the growing technological sophistication of buildings. The need to upgrade aging transport networks and electricity grids, particularly after decades of development, is boosting demand for technical trade products and services.
