Helsinki – Retailer K Group has achieved the highest 'A' score in CDP's international climate questionnaire for the second consecutive year. The company is among 200 businesses globally recognized for top-tier climate performance. CDP is a global environmental non-profit organization that collects data on corporate climate initiatives on behalf of investors.

Kesko has established ambitious emission reduction targets and has been actively implementing them. The company stated that achieving the A List demonstrates comprehensive risk management and best practices in environmental leadership. In Finland, alongside Kesko, Kone, Metsä Board, and TietoEvry also made the A List. More than 13,000 companies responded to the survey.

The group aims to be carbon neutral by 2025, with a goal to reduce emissions from its own operations and transports to zero by 2030. However, a significant portion of K Group's emissions stems from its value chain, including product manufacturing and raw material sourcing. Consequently, the company is working to set science-based reduction targets for two-thirds of its direct supplier emissions by 2025.

"We are happy to see that many of our partners are already setting ambitious emission reduction targets," said Riikka Joukio, EVP of Sustainability and Public Affairs. Kesko's key climate actions include utilizing renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and transitioning to biofuels for transportation. All electricity purchased by Kesko for its stores and properties in Finland has been renewable since 2017. Additionally, the company is developing solutions to help customers reduce their own carbon footprints.
