Kesko Sells Ten Grocery Store Properties, Signs Long-Term Leases
Kesko Oyj is selling ten grocery store properties to Swedish investor Prisma Properties AB for approximately €59 million and will lease them back long-term. The divestment supports Kesko's strategy of focusing investments on growth areas.

Kesko Oyj is optimizing its property holdings by selling ten grocery store properties to Swedish investor Prisma Properties AB, while simultaneously signing long-term lease agreements for the sites. The divestment supports Kesko's objective to concentrate its store site investments in areas with the strongest consumer demand and population growth.
The transaction, covering nine properties and one property company, has a debt-free price of approximately €59 million. The proceeds will be recorded in Kesko's fourth-quarter 2025 figures and are expected to strengthen the company's cash flow, which will be allocated towards developing new, strategically important store locations.
Kesko plans to invest €200–250 million annually in developing its grocery store network. This includes opening new stores and renovating existing ones, with a focus on strategically important sites, particularly in growth centers. The divested properties are classified as "basic properties," which the company owns but may sell and lease back.
Nuutti Rantatupa, Vice President of store sites and retailer operations at Kesko's grocery trade, stated that the company operates as a tenant with long-term leases in some locations. This transaction expands collaboration with Prisma Properties, which already owns the property for Kesko's future K-Citymarket Ylivieska store, set to open in 2026. The company maintains an extensive store network, including remodels outside growth centers, facilitated by these long-term leases.
