Kesko wins prize for biodiversity reporting

Kesko's Annual Report has won the new Biodiversity reporting category at the Finnish sustainability reporting competition held in November 2021. The jury recognized Kesko's report for its clarity and effective presentation of the company's global operations' links to biodiversity.

The trading sector company acknowledges that efforts for biodiversity must extend beyond its own actions to its product selections. Matti Kalervo, Kesko's Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, stated that the recognition encourages the company to further develop its work and reporting in this area. He emphasized the need for lifestyle changes to combat both climate change and biodiversity loss.

Kesko has been reporting annually according to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines since 2000. Kalervo indicated that the company has established a foundation for its biodiversity work and aims to set tangible goals for its operations and supply chains. He also expressed a desire for a shared international framework and indicators to enable comparable reporting on biodiversity.
