Helsinki – Retail conglomerate Kesko Oyj announced on May 18, 2026, that its total sales for April increased by 7.7% to €1,152.9 million compared to the previous year.

The company's sales growth was particularly bolstered by its building and technical trade division, which saw a 20.1% rise in April. In comparable terms, this division's sales were 12.3% higher, an increase that also reflects acquisitions made in Denmark during 2025.

In contrast, the grocery trade division experienced a 1.5% decrease in sales, totaling €546.4 million. This decline was primarily attributed to the timing of the Easter holiday, with most of the holiday-related wholesale occurring in March 2026, rather than April as in the prior year. The car trade division saw sales of used cars increase, while new car and service sales remained stable year-on-year.

Sales in the sports trade segment also saw an increase during April. Kesko noted that the number of delivery days remained flat compared to the previous year, having no significant impact on the reported sales figures.

For the first four months of 2026, Kesko Group's reported sales reached €4,253.2 million, marking a 7.3% increase year-on-year. Comparable sales growth for the January-April period stood at 4.7%.
