Kesko's May Sales Increased
Kesko Oyj reported a 7.6% year-on-year sales increase in May, reaching €1,079.2 million. Growth was driven by grocery and building/technical trade, while car trade sales declined.

Helsinki – Finnish retail conglomerate Kesko Oyj announced its May 2022 sales reached €1,079.2 million, an increase of 7.6% compared to the previous year. Comparable sales also showed a 7.6% rise.
The grocery trade division reported sales of €516.2 million in May, up 7.4% year-on-year. This growth was boosted by a significant increase in foodservice sales, while retail sales to K-food stores saw a more modest increase of 3.2%. Sales of non-food items in K-citymarket stores decreased.
The building and technical trade division experienced substantial growth, with comparable sales increasing by 13.9% in local currencies and reported sales rising by 14.0%. Business-to-business (B2B) trade was a key driver of this expansion.
In contrast, the car trade division saw a decrease of 17.9% in sales, amounting to €82.4 million. This decline was attributed to car availability issues, which also impacted new vehicle registrations in Finland.
