KFC has opened a new prototype restaurant in McKinney, Texas, named "Open House." This experimental location introduces several new features for the fast-food chain, including its first-ever breakfast menu, table service, and the addition of boba tea to its beverage offerings.
The 3,400-square-foot restaurant also features new food items like cronuts and unique sauces, alongside location-exclusive dishes. KFC executives describe the site as a testing ground for future concepts. "This is the testing ground for us to try those things and see what works best," stated Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S.
The menu has undergone simplification, with all combo meals now including fries, a biscuit, a dip, and a drink as standard. The location also offers exclusive items such as the Twister wrap and Southwest Corn, along with other specialty sides and colorful beverages.
Beyond the menu, the "Open House" concept aims to enhance the customer experience with a modern design and updated operational features. It includes a dual-lane drive-thru, a separate walk-up window, and a dedicated mobile pickup lane, designed to streamline service and cater to various customer needs.
