KfW adjusts federal support for efficient buildings from July 21
German development bank KfW announced changes to its support programs for efficient buildings (BEG), affecting heating grants and energy-efficient renovations. New conditions will apply starting July 21, 2026.

Frankfurt am Main. The German development bank KfW has announced adjustments to its funding products under the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG) program. These changes, which concern support for heating systems and the systemic energy-efficient renovation of residential and non-residential buildings, will take effect on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
The basic grant for heating systems remains at 30 percent of eligible costs, with a maximum of 28,000 euros for the first residential unit. The grant is further differentiated based on household income for owner-occupiers, with higher percentages for those earning up to 30,000 euros annually. Families with children will also receive additional benefits that reduce the applicable household income threshold.
A transitional phase is in effect until July 20, 2026. Customers who have already obtained a confirmation for their investment project can submit their grant application under the previous conditions by this date. New confirmations can be issued again starting July 21, and applications submitted with existing confirmations will follow the new, adjusted funding conditions.
Support for energy-efficient renovations will also see modified conditions. The German federal government outlined the key aspects of these revisions on July 8, with KfW now implementing them. Specific details for renovation grants are still being finalized but are expected to align with the overall program adjustments.
