KfW and pbb's CAPVERIANT Platform Cooperate on Municipal Financing

The German state-owned development bank KfW and CAPVERIANT, a digital municipal financing platform owned by pbb Deutsche Pfandbriefbank (pbb), have established a cooperation agreement. This partnership is designed to enhance the assessment of municipal financing projects for eligibility and to broaden access to potential funding sources.

The collaboration, effective from November 7, 2019, initially grants access to KfW's IKK program (Investitionskredit Kommunen), which supports investment projects for municipalities and municipal associations. Future plans include integrating additional KfW subsidy programs onto the CAPVERIANT platform, thereby simplifying the process for municipalities to access state support.

Michael Spiegel, CEO of CAPVERIANT, highlighted that the partnership with KfW expands their service offering for municipalities and opens new digital distribution channels for subsidized funding. Dr. Ingrid Hengster, a member of KfW's Executive Board, stated that the initiative aims to shorten the time for municipalities to secure suitable promotional loans and simultaneously advances the digitalization of KfW's support offerings.

CAPVERIANT, launched in the German market in May 2018, seeks to improve market efficiency and transparency in municipal finance through digital means. The platform connects borrowers with institutional investors. The company also aims to establish similar collaborations with other development banks. Currently, over 100 municipalities and investors are registered on the platform, with a cumulative financed volume exceeding 1.4 billion euros.
