KfW Capital Awards Recognize Best Female and Impact Investors

KfW Capital presented its 2023 awards in Berlin yesterday, recognizing outstanding contributions to the venture capital sector. Itziar Estevez, partner at Iris Capital, was named "Best Female Investor 2023," and Tim Schumacher, partner at World Fund, received the "Best Impact Investor 2023" award. Each award carries a prize of 5,000 euros.

The recipients were selected through a multi-stage process. The awards aim to acknowledge significant personalities while drawing attention to the importance of "more diversity" and "more impact" within the venture capital landscape, according to KfW Capital managing directors.

Itziar Estevez was recognized for her technical expertise, gained through a mechanical engineering background and early career, which has formed the basis for her successful track record in venture capital. Her investment focus includes future-oriented technologies like climate tech, industry 4.0, and deeptech in European and German startups.

Tim Schumacher was honored for his focus on "impactful" businesses, starting his investment career after a successful entrepreneurial exit. His fund, World Fund, specifically finances climate tech startups in Europe, and he is active as a mentor within the climate tech ecosystem.
