KfW Capital launches 200 million euro impact investment facility
KfW Capital has introduced a 200 million euro facility to support venture capital funds that prioritize measurable social and environmental outcomes alongside financial returns.

KfW Capital has launched an 'Impact Facility' with 200 million euros in available capital to support German and European venture capital (VC) funds. The program is the 11th component of the German government's Future Fund, designed to bolster growth capital financing through 2030.
Under the new framework, impact funds can receive up to 15 million euros, capped at 25 percent of the fund’s total volume. KfW Capital will subject all applicants to a standard due diligence process, with a specific focus on the transparency and measurement processes of the funds' impact targets.
Jörg Goschin, CEO of KfW Capital, stated that the initiative aims to improve financing conditions for start-ups that develop social or ecological innovations. To qualify, fund managers must set clear impact targets and link a portion of their management compensation to the achievement of those goals.
The Future Fund initiative, coordinated by KfW Capital alongside the Ministry for Economic Affairs and the European Investment Fund (EIF), has now launched modules totaling over 13 billion euros. The facility represents a push to mobilize private and public capital toward sustainable growth.
