KfW Executive Board Manages Bank and Assets

Frankfurt am Main – The KfW Executive Board manages the public development bank and its assets in accordance with the German Law Concerning KfW and the bank's bylaws. This body is responsible for the proper execution of its duties and oversees the implementation of resolutions passed by the Board of Supervisory Directors.

The board is led by Chairperson Stefan Wintels, who is responsible for group management, among other areas. Other members include Melanie Kehr, focusing on domestic development finance, IT, and operations, as well as export and project finance at KfW IPEX-Bank. Bernd Löwen is responsible for accounting, organization, and human resources.

Dr. Stefan Peiß oversees risk management and risk controlling, while Brigitte Réthier heads the business area of International Financial Cooperation. Members of the Executive Board are appointed for fixed terms by the Administrative Board.

As the bank's highest management body, the Executive Board is also tasked with developing strategies and ensuring KfW fulfills its public mandate. The board convenes regularly to discuss significant decisions and make collective resolutions.
