KfW Expands Eligibility for Heating System Support Program

KfW, Germany's state-owned development bank, is expanding its support program for heating system replacements, aiming to accelerate the transition to climate-friendly heating. Starting August 27, 2024, the program now includes companies owning residential and non-residential buildings, as well as owners of rented single-family homes and individual apartments within housing associations (WEG).

This latest phase is part of KfW's strategic roadmap and makes the promotional funding accessible to all private and commercial applicant groups. The initiative provides grants and low-interest supplementary loans, managed through local banks, to encourage investments in greener heating technologies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the building sector.

Since its launch on February 27, 2024, KfW has issued approximately 93,000 grant commitments totaling around EUR 1.3 billion. The application process is largely digital and automated, offering applicants swift planning security for their financing needs.

"We are continuing our consistent implementation of the roadmap for the promotion of heating systems," stated Katharina Herrmann, KfW Executive Board member. She emphasized that the program aims to reconcile climate friendliness with affordability for both individuals and companies undertaking the significant financial task of replacing their heating systems.
