KfW launches application phase for "KfW Award Gründen 2026"
German development bank KfW has opened the application period for the "KfW Award Gründen 2026". The award recognizes young companies and startups in Germany for their innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit.

Young companies and startups founded from 2021 onwards in Germany can now apply for the "KfW Award Gründen 2026" (KfW Award for Founding). The application period closes on July 1, 2026. The award aims to highlight and celebrate innovative ideas and pioneering management approaches in new German businesses and company succession cases.
The award ceremony will take place in Berlin on November 4, 2026. A total of 35,000 euros in prize money will be awarded. One winner from each federal state will receive 1,000 euros. These state winners will then compete for the federal prize of 9,000 euros. Additionally, a special prize of 5,000 euros will be presented for successful company succession, and a public choice award of 5,000 euros will be determined by online voting.
A jury comprising experts from KfW, other development banks, and representatives from business and politics will evaluate entries based on criteria such as innovation, creativity, social responsibility, economic success, and environmental sustainability. Winners will also receive professional PR support.
KfW Capital, a subsidiary of KfW focused on growth capital, will also present its KfW Capital Award during the event. The application period for this award also opened on April 1, 2026.
