KfW Launches European Ukraine Reconstruction Fund with Partners
KfW has launched the European Ukraine Reconstruction Fund with European partners to mobilize private investment for Ukraine's rebuilding efforts. The fund aims for a target volume of EUR 1 billion by the end of 2027.

KfW, the German development bank, has launched the European Ukraine Reconstruction Fund alongside European partners, aiming to attract private capital for Ukraine's rebuilding. The fund was initiated at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, with KfW subscribing to its first shares.
The consortium includes governments from Germany, Italy, Poland, and France, their development banks, the European Commission, and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The fund's objective is to reach a target volume of EUR 1 billion by the end of 2027, with the potential to enable investments of EUR 6 to 7 billion in strategic sectors of the Ukrainian economy.
Investment focus areas include energy infrastructure, renewable energy, industrial production, and digital infrastructure. These sectors are considered critical for Ukraine's economic stability and future, offering opportunities for European companies to participate in the reconstruction.
Managed by Amber Infrastructure and Dragon Capital, the fund utilizes public funds to provide risk mitigation for private investors. Christiane Laibach, KfW Executive Board Member, stated that the fund acts as a mechanism to leverage public capital for private investment, addressing the substantial reconstruction needs of Ukraine.
