KfW allocated 13.4 billion euros in funding to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2024. The support focused on fostering growth, innovation, and employment within the crucial SME sector.

KfW, Germany's development bank, provided 13.4 billion euros in financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2024, the bank announced. This funding is intended to support the growth, innovation, and employment of the SME sector, which is considered the backbone of German industry.
The allocated funds have supported a variety of initiatives. For instance, the iron foundry Fritz Winter invested in Europe's largest electric crucible furnace, a move that significantly reduces emissions and enhances competitiveness. The company Tonies also achieved international growth with the aid of KfW financing aimed at young technology firms.
Furthermore, KfW's subsidiaries DEG and KfW IPEX-Bank facilitated international investments and exports. The Selecta One group, for example, modernized its production facilities in Kenya with DEG's support, while the Klingele Paper & Packaging Group developed its manufacturing plant.
KfW's financing programs address a broad range of needs, including energy efficiency improvements, digitalization initiatives, and support for company succession and establishment. The overarching goal is to ensure the competitiveness and sustainable growth of German SMEs for the future.
