KfW Reports on 2022 Green Bond Proceeds Allocation

KfW has published its report detailing the allocation of proceeds from its 2022 Green Bonds, which raised EUR 10.6 billion. Over 70% of the funds were directed towards energy efficiency projects.

KfW Reports on 2022 Green Bond Proceeds Allocation

KfW released its report today on the allocation of net proceeds from "Green Bonds โ€“ Made by KfW" issued in 2022. The bank raised EUR 10.6 billion equivalent in international capital markets through a total of 20 Green Bonds denominated in 10 different currencies.

The proceeds were fully allocated to KfW's loan programmes in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and environmentally sustainable mobility. The report shows that 70.5% of the proceeds were allocated to energy efficiency projects under the "Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings" programme. A further 27.6% went to the "Renewable Energies โ€“ Standard" programme, and 1.9% was allocated to the "Sustainable Mobility for Municipalities and Corporates" programme, added in 2022.

Regionally, 93.2% of the net proceeds were allocated to projects in Germany, with the remaining 6.8% funding operations in other OECD countries. Tim Armbruster, KfW's Treasurer, highlighted the bank's long-standing commitment to transparent reporting since its Green Bond programme began in 2014.

KfW has started 2023 by issuing three Green Bonds totalling EUR 3.3 billion equivalent in three currencies. The bank has announced plans to issue at least EUR 10 billion in Green Bonds again for 2023.
