KfW Updates Support for Construction and Housing

The German development bank KfW has updated and expanded its funding programs for the construction and housing sectors. These initiatives aim to support energy efficiency and affordability for both new constructions and renovations.

The funding is available to a wide range of applicants, including private individuals, housing companies, cooperatives, and municipalities. The programs cover the construction and initial purchase of climate-friendly residential buildings, as well as the energy-efficient renovation of existing properties.

For new buildings, KfW offers programs such as "Klimafreundlicher Neubau – Wohngebäude" (loan codes 297, 298), providing up to €150,000 per dwelling. This program encourages the adoption of energy-efficient measures and offers loan terms of up to 35 years with interest rate fixation for up to 10 years.

A specific program, "Wohneigentum für Familien" (loan code 300), targets families with children or single parents. It supports the construction or first purchase of climate-friendly, owner-occupied homes for low to middle-income households, with loan amounts reaching up to €270,000.

Furthermore, KfW provides support for building affordable housing ("Klimafreundlicher Neubau im Niedrigpreissegment," loan code 296) and for the energy-efficient renovation of existing buildings ("Wohngebäude – Kredit," loan code 261). The renovation funding can cover energy-efficiency improvements and offers loans up to €150,000 per residential unit.
