Kia Rolls Out AI Voice Assistant to European Market

Kia Deutschland GmbH has introduced its advanced generative AI-powered voice recognition system, named AI Assistant, to the European market. This technology, previously launched in Korea and the U.S., is now being made available to European customers via Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.

The AI Assistant aims to significantly enhance the in-car user experience by facilitating natural conversations between the driver and the vehicle. The system is designed to understand user intent and context, providing smarter and more accurate responses to queries. It also allows drivers to easily learn about and control the car's features using voice commands.

Leveraging advanced AI, the system can engage in fluid dialogues and accept diverse commands. Unlike previous voice recognition systems, the AI Assistant can address broader, open-ended questions that extend beyond the car's immediate functions. For instance, users can seek travel advice or inquire about cultural etiquette.

Continuous OTA updates ensure that the AI Assistant's capabilities evolve over time. The system is already standard on select new Kia models, such as the EV3, and will be expanded to other models equipped with the ccNC system. Existing vehicles will receive the update through the OTA functionality.
