Kick Streaming Platform Challenges Twitch with More Favorable Creator Payouts
The streaming platform Kick has emerged as a competitor to Twitch, offering creators significantly better revenue splits and a more lenient content policy. The platform has rapidly grown its user base.

The streaming platform Kick is positioning itself as a rival to Twitch, drawing in users with a more favorable revenue split for creators and a more relaxed approach to content moderation. Launched officially in January 2023, Kick reported having over 100 million users by April 2026.
A key differentiator for Kick is its revenue sharing model, which offers creators 95% of subscription revenue, compared to Twitch's standard 50% split (reducing to 30% for some program participants). This has attracted numerous creators, including high-profile names like xQc, who reportedly signed a deal worth around $100 million for two years.
Kick's founders, Bijan Tehrani and Ed Craven, are also associated with the crypto gambling site Stake, which operates under the same parent company, Easygo. This connection has fueled speculation about Kick's funding and rapid market entry, potentially linked to Twitch's tightening of gambling-related policies in late 2022.
The platform hosts a variety of content, similar to Twitch, including gaming, "Just Chatting," music, and notably, gambling streams. Kick supports full HD streaming quality at 1080p and 60 frames per second, with a maximum bitrate of 8,000 kbps. Its growth indicates a significant shift in the live-streaming landscape, challenging established players with its creator-centric financial model.
