Kidney Patient Group AAKP Targets Voter Registration
The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) has launched its "KidneyVoter™" campaign, aiming to engage individuals affected by chronic diseases, particularly kidney disease, as voters.

The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), a national advocacy group for kidney patients, has reached the midpoint of its "50 States in 50 Days" campaign, focused on registering voters and mobilizing patients, donors, and their families.
The campaign, initiated on September 14, 2026, has engaged patient and professional communities in 25 states. It targets patients, living organ donors, families, caregivers, researchers, healthcare professionals, and employees of companies involved in kidney, heart, and diabetes care innovation. The 2026 effort also aims to reach patient and professional communities impacted by Cardio-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) Syndrome, including heart disease advocates and the diabetes community.
Kidney disease affects over 37 million Americans. Related cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases impact more than 25% of the adult population and are a leading cause of death. The campaign is focusing the remainder of October on states with populations highly affected by multiple chronic diseases.
AAKP stated that its prior "KidneyVoter™" program in 2024 engaged over 500,000 voters. The organization estimates that the program will reach over one million Americans affected by kidney and other chronic diseases or organ failure by the 2028 election cycle. According to AAKP, the registered voters are highly motivated to advocate for policy changes in healthcare, including enhanced job protections for living donors and faster approval of new medical innovations.
