The facility's employees process and package meat and protein products destined for major retailers, including Costco and Trader Joe's. Their immediate goal is to negotiate a first contract aimed at improving wages, benefits, and working conditions.
By joining the Teamsters, these workers become part of a broader effort within the food processing sector where employees are seeking enhanced labor agreements. Teamsters Local 301 currently represents over 1,200 workers throughout the northeastern Illinois region.
