Kinetics Acquires LNG Carrier for Conversion to New FSRU
Kinetics has purchased the LNG carrier Arctic Voyager, which will be converted into a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) named LNGT Akdeniz. The delivery is expected in Q3 2028.
Kinetics is expanding its fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure with the acquisition of the LNG carrier Arctic Voyager. The vessel will be converted into a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), to be named LNGT Akdeniz.
Upon conversion, LNGT Akdeniz will feature a storage capacity of approximately 143,000 cubic meters and a regasification capacity of 650 million standard cubic feet per day. The converted vessel is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2028. This new unit will supplement Kinetics' existing fleet by providing utility-scale regasification capacity.
Mehmet Katmer, General Manager at Kinetics, stated that the global LNG market shows strong demand for flexible and rapidly deployable regasification infrastructure. Increased focus on energy security and the need for flexible import capacity are driving demand for floating LNG solutions. The company aims to meet these demands with a diversified fleet of high-specification FSRU assets.
